Pneumatic Cast Iron Gate Valves Description
The pneumatic cast iron gate valve is a valve driven by compressed air. Its sealing mechanism when closed is unique. When the valve closes, the sealing surface relies solely on the pressure of the medium to achieve a seal. The medium pressure pushes the gate plate’s sealing surface against the valve seat on the opposite side, ensuring an effective seal, which is known as self-sealing.
In contrast, most traditional gate valves use forced sealing. Specifically, when these valves close, external force is required to press the gate plate tightly against the valve seat to ensure a tight contact between the sealing surfaces, thereby guaranteeing a reliable seal.
The self-sealing design of the pneumatic cast iron gate valve offers higher reliability and durability in many applications, particularly where the medium pressure is high or frequent valve operations are needed. This technology reduces reliance on external force, lowering mechanical wear and maintenance costs.
